Carrie and Jeff Ervick don’t believe they’d be moving into a new home this summer if they had listed their mobile home with an agent.
"As it is, we were just able to afford the new home. If we had had to pay the $7,000 the agents wanted to charge us, we would have had to settle for a lot less," Jeff said recently, sitting in the livingroom of the 1700-sq.-ft. South St. Vital mobile home he had just marketed privately through ComFree.
"It was fantastic to be able to do it ourselves and save all that money," added Carrie.
Their mobile home, to which they’d added a 500-sq.-ft. addition, also set a record for the highest price obtained in their trailer park. "Agents would tell us that the highest price paid on the agents' listing service for a home in this development was $76,500. Then they’d tell us we shouldn’t market privately because we might sell for below market value, but they could never tell us what the market value is," Jeff said, shaking his head.
"When we put it on the market, a lot of people said we’d |
never get it, but two weeks later it was sold for $102,500."
"We recommend ComFree to everyone," Jeff said. "We’d put up a private sale sign ourselves, but a lot of the people who came just seemed curious about the place. As soon as we signed with ComFree, there were nothing but serious enquires because everyone already had all the information about the home through your net site, the magazine or the automated information line. The difference was like night and day."
