Al and Sylvia Twersky sold privately in six days and banked $14,000 more than if they'd used an agent

The agent’s price estimate was only out by $30,000

Sylvia and Al Twersky were in no hurry to sell their London St. home in Valley Gardens. So when it sold in six days with ComFree for $30,000 more than they were asking they were pleased and relieved.

“We were in no hurry to sell but thought we’d test the market, so we put the house up on Feb. 8, with an Open House two days later,” says Sylvia. “Even though it was a bitterly cold February day we were amazed how many people came.”

She estimates 16 couples toured the home, which was offered at $189,900. They arrived at the price after an agent suggested it was likely worth $169,900 but they might get $189,900 if there were a bidding war.

“We were in no rush and decided to use ComFree and sell it ourselves,” says Sylvia. A young couple offered $200,000, more than $10,000 above the asking price.

Says Al: “We counter-offered for $220,000 and to our surprise the buyers agreed, provided we threw in a fridge and stove.”

The couple is amazed how easy it was to sell their own home using ComFree. Though they only put it on sale Feb. 8 the final offer was accepted Valentine’s Day.

“We couldn’t be happier,” says Sylvia. “We saved about $14,000 on agent’s commissions and we also sold for $30,000 over the original asking price. We already have the cheque in the bank.”
